Baltic Offshore Week

Finnish Championship sailed in Tallin as Open Finnish/Estonian Championship Race. It was first of a kind and named Baltic Offshore Week. Pirita harbour war a great venue for the Race week. Pier, hotel, restaurant and the race area were all side by side.

The Race itself was the best sailing we'd experienced at Gulf of Finland during a long time. Estonians had some great boats with great crews. Before the finishing day four top boats (Forte, Audi, Luna and Alfa Romeo) were within 1.4 pts.

First Finnish/estonian champion was Juss Ojala's GS42R Audi Sport with 15 pts (4-2-2-3-2). Alfa Romeo took 2nd, 15.3 pts (3-1-6-1-3). Erki Melts with Ladybird came from behind and took 3rd with 20.9 pts (5-3-8-2-1).

All the races were tight amongst the top boats (Grand Soleil42s, Ladybird, Luna and two X-41s). Biggest dissapointments were X-41 Bering and a brand new Finngulf 43 Farr Out. They haven't yet found their real boatspeed.

Baltic Offshore Week was fine regatta with over 40 boats participating. Organizing was good and the level of racing was far tighter than our own Race Weeks. Next year Baltic Offshore Week will probably move to Hanko, Finland. And there are high hopes to see some Swedish boats there too.

6.6.08 Volvo-Suursaari Race
Quite heavy winds gave their spice to this years VSSR. We crossed finishing line well ahead others, but VHF-problems caused us penalty and our position dropped to 3rd.

1.6. WB-Sails Round the Buoys

Warm and sunny day with light winds. We took three different starts (bad, good and fair).
In the end of the day we had thee wins. All in all, great weekend. Good practice day and even better race day.

Results after three races: 1. Alfa Romeo (1-1-1-) 2. Ladybird (2-2-2) 3. Luna (3-3-5)

17.5. Prosailor Race.

In the halway stage, wind rose, but brought a thick fog with it.

The first start of Finnish ranking series had a start with almost no wind. All in all 22 boats started (8 of them in class 1). Poor start due to Luna and light winds didn't help us. During the first beat we found some wind and took our place behind Luna.
Wind rose during the race, and in the end it blew 6-7 m/s. Positions didn't change much during the race. Luna crossed the line first, then us and the X-35s. In the results we won by some three minutes X-35s LauraX and Epsilon. 4th was Luna.
